Northern California Fire Science Field Days (1-day free events): Branscomb, CA

Fire Effects in the Lodge Fire:
On May 7, 2015 visit UC’s Angelo Reserve near Branscomb, CA (Mendocino County), which burned in the 2014 Lodge Fire. We will enjoy a moderately strenuous ~2.5 mile hike that will take us through mixed hardwoods and chaparral to the boundary of the 2014 Lodge Fire, then through a stand of mature Douglas-fir forest that burned in the fire. We will hear about the progression and management of the fire, discuss fire severity and effects, and enjoy lunch by a late-1800s homestead on the banks of the beautiful South Fork Eel River.

Hosts include:
 Peter Steel, Angelo Reserve Manager
 Tim Jones, Fire Management Officer, BLM - Arcata
 Lenya Quinn-Davidson and Yana Valachovic, University of CA Cooperative Extension/CA Fire Science Consortium
 Eamon Engber, Fire Ecologist, National Park Service

Sign up before May 4, 2015. Space is limited, so sign up soon!
